The original EcoFlow RIVER extra battery bundle combines the earlier RIVER power station with its matching expansion module. This guide is for the original model, not RIVER 2 or RIVER 3 products.
What changes when you add the extra battery?
The original RIVER’s 288Wh nominal capacity increases to 576Wh with its matching 288Wh extra battery. The purpose is longer runtime. It does not double the inverter output or make every appliance compatible.
Check the original RIVER model
Look at the product label and use the correct manual for attachment, storage and charging. An expansion module intended for one generation must not be assumed to work with another. For an older or second-hand unit, ask about condition, included parts and any remaining warranty.
Plan energy use for a trip
List each device’s watts and expected hours of use. Phones, lighting and laptops have different demands from heaters or cooking appliances. Allow for output losses, standby consumption and startup loads when estimating runtime.
Check the charging options and likely access to mains or sunlight. A capacity upgrade does not guarantee that a small portable panel will replenish the battery each day in Scottish winter conditions.
